In toxicity studies mainly in mice, rats, other rodents, the generation of complete concentration-time profile in each animal is difficult due to the limited blood volume that can be drawn. In such scenario, a single blood sample is obtained from each animal and several animals are used to generate the complete concentration-time profile over a sampling time period for toxicokinetic analysis. As the animals are sacrificed after the sampling, this is also called “destructive sampling” method.
