Pharmacodynamics is a relationship between the plasma concentration of a drug and a given response. The response can be the drug interaction with the receptor both directly and reversibly (e.g., antiarrhythmic and neuromuscular blocking agents), or indirectly (e.g., coumarin anticoagulants), or irreversible binding to the receptors (e.g., anticancer agents and bactericidal antibiotics).
